    water in air intake

I sucked some water into the air filter to the point it killed the engine. Wouldn't turn over or anything. Just full of water. Pulled the fuel injectors, turbo, and air filter. Turned it over till most of the water was out and then put it back together and it started right up. Now when I start it when its cold, lots of bluish smoke, rough idle, backfires sometimes. When its warm, idles smoother, no bluish smoke. When pulling I notice more black smoke at higher RPM. Isn't taking any oil, isn't losing any anti-freeze. Any ideas?

do you have any in and out shaft play in the turbo?
kinda curious if thats where the blueish smoke is coming from.

Havent checked that. It's usually only blue smoke when its cold, goes away when the engine warms up. Almost wonder if it didnt bend a exhaust valve and it blows fuel into the exhaust making it look blue when cold and then black when the engine is warmed up.

I'd say you more likely grenaded some rings and that's letting oil by. It may be using oil slow enough you haven't noticed yet. Also maybe a cracked piston?

Yea, 99% it's oil. I'm just doubting bending a Valve, Conn. rod I could see, but I've grenaded rings before from a hydrolock (not in a vehicle, but in powersports and a boat)

What would cause it to backfire? Thanks for the input guys. Was hoping to get off easy but I suppose the only way to figure it out is to tear into it.
